Hindman's December 14th Post War and Contemporary Art auction is comprised of 91 exciting lots of paintings, sculptures and works on paper headlined by important bronze figurative sculptures Henry Moore and Fernando Botero, also of note in the sculpture session are captivating forms by Richard Ursula von Rydingsvard. The abstract offerings range from intimate to monumental and are all compelling with stellar paintings and painted objects by Alice Baber, Gene Davis, Paul Jenkins, Kenzo Okada, Joan Snyder, Toshiko Takaezu and Larry Zox coming to the block. The sale also includes more imaginative figural and narrative paintings with lots from Gertrude Abercrombie, John Alexander, Enrico Baj, Carlos Cancio, Antonio Clave, Nicholas Davis, Tran Luu Hau, Jim Lutes and Gladys Nilsson leading the charge. Last but not least are dynamic works on paper by Alexander Calder, Allan Davie, Sam Francis, Richard Hambleton and Dorothea Rockburne round out the sale adding more star power to the day. Also of prominence in the sale is Property form the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields and Property of an Important Midwestern Institution both sold to support the respective acquisition funds, as well as Property from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Sold to Benefit Student Scholarships.
