Richardson's Prehistoric Ceramics Auction

This auction consists of some of the most interesting and important art of the United States. Although few people know anything about this art form it?s greatly prized by those that are informed. The mound builders will probably always be a mystery to Archeologist as well as collectors. These ceramics are treasures of America and are literally as American as any ancient artifact can be. Especially considering they are made from the very soil that forms our country. This collection represent the ceramic vessel and effigies of the Mississippian period of around 1,000 - 1650 AD as well as the western Arkansas Caddoan people that were a little earlier about 700 - 1700AD. Using the mud then tempering it with ground mussel shells as grog and maybe as a spirit filled substance that held all things together they created beauty at the same time. The ingredients used to make their art varied from artist to artist as well as village to village. These ingredients were as mysterious at times as were the very forms and designs they used. Because of this the collectors and archeologist can now distinguish and identify each vessel. Under the circumstances I believe all vessels are a miracle to have been made and to have been found hundreds of years later in the ground after floods, freezing temperatures , droughts, earthquakes and still be in the condition they are in today. The conditions have been described by my opinion based on my knowledge. Taking in the factors about described as well as having some idea of how many new finds and discoveries are now being made upon a yearly basis. You must be the final judge of condition if you are to be the new owner. We feel very grateful and privileged of being able to offer such a rare collection of ancient ceramics of our America.
