The Andy Yanchus Collection, Part I

Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers is proud to present Part I of the Andy Yanchus collection on Saturday, September 17th, 2022. A highly regarded hobbyist and professional within the comic, model, and toy world, Andy possessed a collecting passion since early childhood. His love for building and displaying models is what led him to attend the Pratt School of Industrial Design in New York and go on to have a ten year career with Aurora Plastics, rising to the level of Project Manager. From Aurora, Andy became a staff colorist with Marvel Comics for seventeen years; he worked on Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men, Alpha Flight, and G.I. Joe, amongst other titles. It was during this time he regularly worked alongside Marvel great Dave Cockrum, establishing a lifelong friendship. This is the first in a series of auctions taking place over the next year showcasing Andy?s lifetime collection. It is truly one of the most comprehensive plastic model collections to ever come to market; highlights include an impressive and diverse selection of Japanese science fiction model kits by Bandai, Imai, Tamiya, Midori, Aoshima, and Bullmark. There will also be a large selection of Popy, Takara, and Nomura diecast toys, American models, and vintage toys ranging from the 1960?s to the 1990?s. Throughout all categories of the sale, there is an overlying theme of Gerry Anderson related models and toys. Andy, an absolute diehard fan of Gerry Anderson, compiled one of the greatest archives of Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, UFO, and Joe Mac merchandise ever seen. Andy collected everything, but most importantly he collected the best of everything. Perusing the catalog, you will notice each item is in unused condition. Andy only opened each piece to document and inspect the design before sealing it away again in storage. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Andy amassed his collection in his lifelong home; almost everything was purchased new, much of it documented with a collection stamp and the date acquired. I
