Pre-Columbian, Antiquities & Ethnographic Art

Day II of the Antiquities and Ancient Art Sale is centered around a collection of Pre-Columbian Art from the Estate of Jean Claude Ferrand (Paradise Valley, AZ). Over his lifetime, Ferrand collected objects from all over the Mesoamerican World. The strength of the collection is in the ceramic figures from the region of West Mexico. Opposite to many of the better-known Mesoamerican civilizations and their deity rich culture, these earthenware sculptures reflect scenes of daily life. Their human attributes and life-like poses provide us with an understanding of what life was like for these ancient inhabitants. As seen below, this unique collection hosts a notable variety of Pre-Columbian ceramics from West Mexico. Also featured in this sale are classical antiquities and ethnographic objects from various private collections. All lots in this catalogue with a lower estimate value of $1,500 and above are searched against the Art Loss Register database.
