EXCLUSIVE PRINTS SALE: PRIVATE COLLECTION
An eclectic mix of items from a seller who collects only authentic, vintage prints. The sale consists of original engravings, lithographs, chromolithographs, or other types of images created in the 19th century or earlier. Most of the items in this sale have never been offered anywhere before.
This sale features five exceedingly rare and large 1827 lithographs by Henry Barnard Chalon collectively titled “Passions of the Horse.” It’s extremely uncommon to have even one of these lithographs up for auction—to have five of the six in the set available—and in such lovely condition—is an event, indeed.
An original oil painting by the famous portrait artist Vinciata (Joseph Wallace King) is included in this sale. He painted portraits of President Nixon and Queen Elizabeth. The item being offered not only reflects his signature style, but is also housed in one of his signature, hand-painted frames.
A highly unusual item is a framed collection of 18 photos of Queen VictoriaÂ’s family, including photos of the queen and Prince Albert. All eighteen photos are identified on the rear of the collection.
Finally, included in this sale is a huge book from 1709 containing 80 exquisitely detailed full-page engravings by Richard Blome, including a map showing California as an island. This leather-bound book is a spectacular example of the bookbinderÂ’s art. It is a gem that will be the centerpiece of any collection.
