This unique 2-day single-owner auction will showcase 846 lots from the 67,000 square foot Main Residence at Duke Farms in Hillsborough, New Jersey, Doris Duke’s primary home, as well as selections from her Southeast Asian Art Collection and property from her Park Avenue Manhattan apartment and Beverly Hills, California home. Included in this special auction are objects Doris Duke acquired and lived with, including 17th through 20th century European furniture and decorative objects, silver, paintings and prints, antique carpets, Asian works of art, lighting, draperies, automobiles and magnificent garden statuary. Sunday’s auction session will focus on 17th through 19th Century American, English and Continental furniture, decorative arts, paintings and carpets with almost 500 lots offered, including Art Deco Period furnishings from the “Hollywood Wing” of the Main Residence at Duke Farms. Sunday’s auction will be conducted in room-by-room order to simulate a walking tour of the Main Residence and grounds at Duke Farms. From a set of Kirk sterling silver corncob holders (estimate $20-30) to a 10-foot 19th Century Italian white marble allegorical figure of Fortitude (estimate $12,000-18,000), there should prove to be something for everyone at every budget.
