Points In Time Ephemera, Militaria, Books

We will be adding additional lots up until the day of the auction. This auction is Part II of the Alex Shear Collection which was featured in our Heavy Metal Auction and also includes the Brian J. Miller Collection of Militaria. There will be no reserves and we recommend joining us for the live portion of this auction. Our collective history; the heroes, the villains, the everyday moments, and the events that impacted the world as we know it, are presented here, for the nostalgic, the collector, the history buff, and all those who feel a connection to a past point in time. A desire to make a connection across time is as old as the concepts of art and the use of written communication. Objects carried into battle, letters home, morale boosters, novelties, and even the mundane of daily life can evoke an emotional response that brings us closer to the past and to our understanding of history. A journey through the offerings of Points in Time II will bring you connections to men, women, and children from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The influences of family, food, community, are found among these objects of war, advertisements, vintage toys, and the ephemera of life. Documenting cultural touchstones of music, movies, jokes, and disasters that left imprints on those who lived in that time. For example : The World War Two actions of The Filthy Thirteen: Heroes who defended American values, against the evils of fascism are well documented among the artifacts and writings of this collection. Alongside those objects are items representing moments from the home front: a WWI military kit from the soldiers who came before them, the route book of a milkman back home, and toys and books made for the children of the 1950s who lived in a time of peace after them. These items can be inspirations, reminders, teachers, and entertainers as well as objects of beauty, mystery, and even melancholy. All of them are moments of connection to points in time. We hope you will spend some time with us, with these auction offerings, and make a connection to a point in time that is important to you.
