This catalog presents a select arrangement of rare, antique and decorative books. Featured is a private library of aviation history titles, along with our next session from an interesting private estate library belonging to an Eastern Orthodox priest. Antique and rare books are numerous in this catalog. Among the earliest examples are Drexel?s ?Orbis Phaethon Hoc est de Universis Vitiis Linguae,? published in 1634 with engraved plates and bound in vellum, the 1633 printing of ?Mysteria Patrum Iesuitarum,? bound in vellum, and a scarce 1728 printing of Kempis? ?Canonici Regularis Ordinis S. Augustini de Imitatione Christi Libri Quatuor.? Additional desirable finds include a new-old-stock copy of the 26-volume Warren Commission report on the Kennedy assassination, accompanied by an original, signed letter from the lead prosecutor, Jim Garrison, and the ?Orbis Terrarum Antiquus,? published in 1842 with hand-tinted engraved maps. Several private collections will be showcased. Featured is a range of vintage and antique volumes covering early aviation, originating from the personal library of a pioneering female aviator from Upstate New York. We will also offer a session of selections from a large personal library of a retired Eastern Orthodox Church priest, which includes early theological works as well as interesting, scarce items relating to Eastern European, Ukrainian and German history, notably from the period leading up to World War II. There are also quite a number of lots featuring bound and loose antique magazines such as Harper?s Weekly, Railroad Gazette, Saturday Evening Post and many others. Found throughout this catalog are other decorative antique bindings and compelling selections from categories such as decorative antique bindings, the American West, Native American Indians, travel & exploration, railroads, Civil War, books-on-books, medical, rare fiction, limited editions, signed copies, history, literature, military history, theology and more.
