The September 29 auction will offer furniture, decorations and paintings reflecting the Louis XV and XVI revivals, Victorian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. Among the decorative arts is a selection of art glass, bronzes, porcelain, ivories, silver, portrait miniatures, snuff boxes, Tudric pewter, clocks, sconces, chandeliers and rugs. Featured in the sale will be property from the estates of Mary Livingston Ripley and S. Dillon Ripley of Washington, DC. Mr. Ripley was head of the Smithsonian Institution from 1964 through 1984. Highlighting the sale is a group of Tiffany Studios leaded glass and bronze lamps, including a magnificent Poinsettia floor lamp (lot 520). Also featured are a leaded glass and bronze Poinsettia table lamp (lot 551) and two patinated bronze and Favrile glass linenfold table lamps (Lots 550 and 552). Among the furnishings are two exquisite pieces by Sormani -- a Louis XVI style lady's writing table and a Louis XVI style vitrine table, in addition to inlaid fruitwood marquetry tables by Emile Gallé and Louis Majorelle. The assortment of decorations includes art glass by Daum, Gallé, Loetz, Tiffany and Steuben; silver by Tiffany & Co., Gorham, and Georg Jensen; porcelain by KPM, Limoges, Mintons, and Royal Worcester; art pottery by Newcomb, Fulper and Rookwood; a George Jones majolica game pie dish; and an Art Deco cold painted bronze and ivory figure, Bat Dancer, after a model by Ferdinand Preiss. There are also paintings by Edouard Leon Corte, Adrien de Boucherville, Gustave Jean Jacquet and Luis Alvarez Catala, among others.
