The Saturday session is pleased to offer over 300 Victorian fairy lamps from the phenomenal collection of Dr. Henry and Grace Stricker of Milford, MI. The Strickers? passion for collecting led to the accumulation of one of the largest fairy lamp collections in the United States, and their spectacular taste and joined knowledge is evident in the collection. The auction begins with the stunning and rare Victorian Clarke?s cut glass fairy lamp chandelier. Dispersed throughout the auction are selections for the beginning to advanced collector, including a variety of glass types, such as Burmese, satin, Nailsea-type, as well as a wide variety of styles, notably multi-unit epergnes, English ceramic bases, two and three piece examples, Moorish-style and figural fairy lamps, among many other pieces. Following the whimsical fairy lamps are curated lots of European and American silver, including an impressive Tane Orfebres sterling tea set, a selection of estate Oriental rugs, Asian porcelain and decorative arts, and a mixture of modern and traditional fine furniture. The auction also showcases fine jewelry in a variety of mediums, highlighted by a charming 18KT gold strawberry brooch laden with rubies and diamonds. Those with an interest in Oceanic art will be wooed by a small collection of carved wooden artifacts from Papua New Guinea, including a beautifully painted basketry yam mask and an impressive orator?s stool.
