Antique & Modern Jewellery

The Art Deco era is characterised by bold geometric form and even bolder colours. Regardless of the newly liberated trend towards male fashions, when it came to evening wear, women wanted to feel feminine and glamourous. Lot 17 exemplifies this perfectly, with the intrinsic worth complimented by both the quality of the design and the individual wearing it. The tapered form, with the more uncommon pear-shape diamonds, is accentuated by the curved lines of the surround, the whole echoing the influences of the Far East. India in particular provided many inspirations from carved gems to classic designs and this pendant could well have been inspired by the traditional turban ornament known as a sarpesh. Whatever your individual tastes we hope you find something in this auction to amuse and delight.
