I felt like they wanted to give me the best deal on shipping whereas many auction houses see shipping as a way to make extra cash.

They were very professional and they did not charge excessive fees or give you the run around about using a third party for shipping. Would buy from them again.

Live Auctioneer website could be a lot more user friendly when compared with iCollector. Example LiveAuctioneers will allow only one computer per bidder. I like to use more than one instrument during an auction. iCollector does not have the limitation. Also, it is difficult to bookmark interesting items. If I did not enjoy Desert West so much, I would not log on to LiveAuctioneers.

Responses depend on the auction house. In general, the auction houses where we have purchased items listed on LA have terrible shipping options. We have had nothing but trouble with shipping and packing companies referred to us by auction companies in Great Britain and Europe. In the US, when it comes to shipping, Altair Auctions in Massachusetts is by far the worst, and Artemis Gallery in Boulder, Colorado, is among the best. After six months of extensive buying of items listed on LA, we are impressed with LA's on line features but generally dissatisfied with the policies of at least half the auctions whose items we have purchased.

You have not provided me with the auction house/group name so I cannot respond properly.

I like the fact that this auction house ships so I don't have to shop around for a shipper. Too often, shipping costs ruin the bargain and since nothing's returnable, you have to be careful with bidding. Even with in-house shipping, I was disappointed that I was charged twice as much as shown on the shipping label, maybe because I had requested combined shipping. Many of the items were small and it could have been cHeaper to send them in small, priority flat-rate boxes. My fault! Also, I continue to use the original site, not the new site, because it's faster for my IPad.

I was disappointed, after several years of visiting Desert West auctions, that their "starting bid" prices increased a lot. I believe that this discourages buyers from getting into the auction.

Both items I received were broken upon arrival. Fortunately, I was able to repair them.
