Won an item as online bidder, process went smoothly on all levels. The main way ROA could improve is to offer their own shipping, but the UPS Store they recommended was very good and fair. One minor niggle about the item (wood panel) was that it wasn't described as being two pieces (as it was designed to be), appeared as one in the photo.

The auction house hidden flaws. Very poor condition and no description of it. don't see any damage in this picture. I tried contacting the auction house and got no ANY response.

Richard Opfer Auctioneering was great to work with. The item descriptions and photos were accurate and they make it easy to arrange for shipping. If I could give them 6 stars I would! Absolutely no hesitation at all using their auction site in the future!

Easy to work with on shipping. Was able to call and speak with a real person and deal in real, normal terms. They were flexible on timing and location. Shipping was done in house and very reasonably priced. Photos didn't show some dings in the thin silver of the dishes, but the tarnish hid that as well and I don't think there was anything "wrong" with the photos at all-just a normal risk of buying in online auction. Very happy with the whole process.

I found the staff to be helpful when I had a question post-auction. I wish they had in-house shipping available as an option. Shipping cost me more than the item. They have three outside shippers. Each provided a bid. I accepted one of the offers to ship. The items from a single lot were well packed. Over $85.00 to ship 4 Lalique crystal paperweights and a lucite display stand via UPS. This was from the shipper with the lowest bid. There was an approximate difference of about $35.00 from the lowest to the highest offer price to ship. Idea for the Live Auctioneers community; perhaps if an auction house offers in-house shipping and maintains a customer satisfaction score at 80 % or better, the auction firm would get an incentivized commission rate for the next quarter. Very happy with process

Nice items, as described, but it took over a month to receive my items, after multiple emails, and phone calls. Shipping instructions were not followed. There is some sort of problem with communications between the office, the warehouse, and their recommended retail shipper. Postman Plus has major issues. They failed to p [ ick up my items in a timely manner, lost the invoice, did not return my calls and got my name wrong on the shipping label. They said they would "make it up to" me, but then still charged me the full amount. I do not recommend them.

Items exactly as described. Stephanie and Laura went out of there way to ship my items after your preferred shipper quoted almost $200 to ship items I ship all the time for about $40. That shipper is making your business look really bad.

I know Rick going on close to 40 years now and I have bought a good deal of things through his auction Company. When I moved to the Eastern shore in MD I helped the owner of the house I was purchasing with her Estate (her husband had passed away and the house was too large for her to handle) I contacted Rick (I hope he remembers) Rick was professional he did a fine job selling for thie Estate and he even sent me an unexpected surprise “thank you” check as I helped load up the items when they came to the house for the consignment. For me that sealed the deal in terms of finding Rick fair and considerate. I expected nothing and Rick appreciated the consignment. I had only known Rick for a few years back then but he has continually been fair and responsible and he gets some great antiques and Art that he offers at Opfer Auctioneering.

I will definitely buy from here again. Great customer service and answered all my questions.

My phone bids were not entered and I lost an item I would have won. All bids placed on live auction and hi bid were honored. Just don’t phone in a bid.

These items were from Fred Parks antiques, sold through Richard Opfer. Can't say enough good things about how Fred handled his sale. Very positive guy. At 5:00, we were running late to pick up at warehouse, called, and he said "I'll stay here til 9pm if you need me to." Wow. Once there, he helped pack up glass items and gave us a large plastic, reusable box. Everything we won was just as described or better.

Be careful to always get solid shipping estimate before you start bidding. I ended up paying as much as shipping and packaging as I did for the art and it’s still arrived broken. And no certificate of authenticity as promised

sterling silver teapot arrived with large dent and Opfer refused to state the item left their store without it. Then the shipper is stating they received this way. I'm left with a damaged item, at the end of the day.

The auction process itself was good. I did send one pre-auction question that was never answered. The shipping was a disaster! They were easy to communicate with regarding shipping BUT THE ITEMS ARRIVE ALL DAMAGED. I have purchased many works on paper over the years and they have been shipped in a tube or if shipped flat-had a piece of pvc or artist board to keep them from bending. These were put in two layers of very light-weight cardboard without any warning like 'Do Not Bend'or' Do Not Fold 'or' Fragile . The package was obviously folded in half and something heavy placed on top-since there is now a heavy crease at the same location on all 5 prints. The ink is broken on the front of each print to various extents-but clearly visible. This is so serious that any future reference to the prints will have to include notation of the damage. If the prints had this damage in the auction-I never would have bid on them in the first place. The shipping company says that this is how they ship all their flat works and they have never had a problem. I can not believe this. They have submitted a claim-but the fault here is clearly the shipping company and not the carrier. I am saddened that a purchase that should have been a feature of our museum is now something our board will probably not allow to be displayed. While technically, this is not the fault of the auction house-this is the shipping company that they selected. I mistakenly assumed that the auction house would recommend a company that had experience shipping art work. I have copied the auction house on all communications with the shipping company and not received any communication back from them. For this reason-I would not recommend this auction house unless you are picking up the items yourself or have your own shipment arrangements. This should have been an exceptional acquisition to our collection and instead it has become an example of carelessness and its consequences.
