Altermann Gallery auctions are always curated work from New Mexico and southwest artists and craftsmen. I have always found multiple items to bid on because the items offered are what I look for to add to my collection. Gallery

My experience went pretty well, over all. The item was "as described", so no surprises there. The shipping, is truly the Highest of any of the same type, out of over 300 paintings purchased in 6 years!! That's truly saying something. It is easily double or triple, what others charge, for exactly the same service. Get shipping quotes "Before" you bid/buy, period, or "You Will" be in for an unpleasant shock. Other than this, they seem to be professional and considerate and do have a good organization "overall". They won't pull any unethical "funny business" on you, for sure.

Top notch quality, rivaling the cross town rival, sometimes even outdoing them quality wise on a piece by piece comparison.

The Auction itself and the folks at Altermann were great. The shipping was well done by Pak Mail, but way too expensive. I would buy from them again, but only for a higher cost piece, where the relative cost of the shipping would be more reasonable.

1) I would like the framing included in the pictures given on the site. I'm buying the frame as well, so it would be nice to see the whole thing that I'm getting. Also in the” not sold 'second chance offer the description of the painting is not even included again. That needs to be included. 2). The increments were in $100. However, I suddenly had a raise of $50. There was a mention that it could be done, but I got the impression that it had to be pre-okayed. That needs to be made clear. 3) Would prefer being able to use credit card. Realize that’s a hit for the Auctioneers, but everyone uses them and businesses accept them.

Altermann Galleries is definitely one of the easiest auction houses to work with, they have accurate descriptions, good photographs, and a streamlined check out process.

This is one of the best houses I do business with... there were some houses in New Orleans that were good but I'm too old for them now.

Due to the fact that they do not accept credit cards for instant payment, I have not received anything yet. Very cumbersome process when you send a check..

They accept only checks. I would like to speed up the process by using a credit card. They use a shipper that over-charges. I had a painting shipped at the same time as from Altermann using Pak Mail (the same as Altermann) and the painting was about a third smaller. It cost me $40. less from Phoenix than from Santa Fe. Pretty easy to determine that one charged too much. I would like to see better and more pictures from Altermann. I know them and like them, but they could improve.

Great auction house. I was not as impressed with the independent shipper.
