JJ auctioneers is a dependable & very good company. One problem has cropped up, though. They don’t consistently handle shipping inhouse. Even if you are able check shipping costs before an auction, you might buy something extra or place bids on several items so pro forma shipping costs would vary. Puts extra strain on bidders to check outside shipping to minimize add-on costs above buyer’s premium.

J. James Appraisers and Auctioneers are EXCELLENT. They are helpful, efficient, quick to communicate, and TOP-NOTCH auctioneers. I had a great experience bidding and was delighted to win the lot I wanted. The J. James company's third-party shipper was VERY REASONABLE and shipped promptly-also with excellent communication. For me, a collector who bids in a lot of auctions, this was a rare, perfect bidding experience with no downsides! I am eager to bid in future J. James auctions!

This is an exemplary auction house with clear and accurate descriptions of the items with useful and comprehensive photos. The post-sale payment process (by check) went smoothly. Best of all, very reasonable shipping charges! My glass items arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I will not hesitate to bid with them again.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! Terrible Communication-Still haven't received the item (s) and I understand it has been broken! First, their communication style is lacking any sense of professionalism, courtesy, or simple basic customer service, except for their own interest. I paid for the item immediately, which I had to send a check in (paid for priority delivery) then it took them weeks to get the item to the shipper. After several inquiries, I received a call from the shipper and was informed that the item (glass globe) was received from the auction house broken. J. James said-that's on the shipper (the item hasn't been shipped!) and that I should make a claim on the insurance. Can't make a claim on the shipper-WHEN THE ITEM HASN'T BEEN SHIPPED! ABSOLUTELY! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! So I am still out over $800-AND NOTHING FROM THE AUCTION HOUSE! NOTHING. Going to file a complaint with the better business bureau and then a complaint for mail fraud.

A very smooth process buying from this auction. Will gladly buy from them again.

There's no substitute for a hands-on preview when bidding on antiques, but I've bid at their auctions with & without an in-person preview, and I've been completely satisfied with the results. Their descriptions are honest & their inventory is fresh & genuine.
