Treasures and great service every time
Thank you, George Cole Auctions! I have been the winning bidder on dozens of items in the past 5 + years and every item is a winner and the team could not be nicer. I typically drive from Boston to pick up my winnings and have used shipping a few times. Always smooth! Look forward to auction announcements and will continue to be a regular bidder.

Buyer Beware
I purchased a set of chairs and table from this auction house in January 2024. Shortly before the auction I informed Mr Cole that I would need additional time to find a shipper if I were to be a successful bidder on any items. He then said that it was okay as long as I kept them informed of my progress. In early February a shipper that I hired arrived at their site after I had just mentioned that he would be arriving. When the shipper arrived to pick up the items George Cole refused to release them because Hughes didn't know my last name but he had my phone number and all of our text messages to show him absolute proof of ownership. The driver then left and said that he would be back. A few weeks later the driver showed back up and was informed that I had abandoned the property. I called Mr Cole and took an arrogant approach to me and said that I only had 10 days to pick the items up. If that were the case, why did he not say this when the driver first arrived to pick the items up? I have been buying oak furniture for well over 40 years and have never been treated with such disrespect as I have with this auction house. Not once had Mr Cole ever called me to have these items picked up or that they would have been considered abandoned. In my opinion this individual was not truthful to me. I am not out of money for this purchase and I feel a responsibility to the driver that has shown up twice to pick these items up. The truth of the matter is that the lot was resold at a higher price to someone else. My advice to anyone that buys from this company is that you record your conversations or get everything in writing if your circumstances differ from their policy. I would have never bought these items if I knew that Mr Cole would change the rules that we agreed upon in advance. He also claimed that he called me twice which I will emphatically state is a complete falsehood. Buyers, be aware of this company.

Auction Date was 1/6/24 2). 1/10/24 Our Worker Called You & Left Msg Req Info On Your Plans 3). 1/10/24 Separate Note Indicating You said "Hughes Will Pick Up This Week There was never any issue with refusing to release. Your trucker didn't come til the following month... On your invoice, and in our terms, which everyone must agree to before being able to bid, it states clearly, AND IN ALL CAPS, that..." ANY ITEMS NOT PICKED UP IN 10 DAYS WILL BE SUBJECT TO $10 PER LOT, PER DAY HANDLING FEE. ONCE THE FEES EXCEED THE PURCHASE PRICE THE ITEM IS CONSIDERED ABANDONED & WILL BE DISPOSED OF!!! "That is right there, and has been for years... So, there was never any issue with changing the rules either. Not that it matters, because the burden is on you to contact us, but we do care enough to call, and we did care enough to call, and yes we have notes from the 2 phone calls with you which can be confirmed by checking phone records. We are sorry that the outcome was dissapointing to you. Had your driver been a bit more timely with the pickup or been more communicative, we probably could have resolved this in a much more satisfactory way for you. It is regrettable that did not happen. But that is no excuse for slander and disrespect is a 2-way street sir. I am sorry you feel disrespected. I feel you have been disrespectful also and it is evidenced right here in your let's just say somewhat less than accurate recount and review. However, if you can maintain civil composure we would be happy to explore corrective action. We have been in business for almost 50 years and have found a way to make a lot tougher cookies than you to turn that frown upside down.:) 845.758.9114

High Fees
Ive dealt with this company multiple times and their on line bidding fees as well as asministrative charges are well more than most other auction houses. Make sure you're fullt aware of the added fees before bidding. My last purxhase was also in total disrepair and although their page stated it was in working order it was not. Yes, it atarted and moved but spark pkug wires and other wires were eaten by mice, the batter had been charged just enough for it to start bit after 3 days was conpletely dead etc. Just be aware.

2 important pieces missing entirely
I bought a lot of vintage toys including several rare and valuable items. 2 of the best pieces were plucked out of the lot before it was shipped to me. The auction house is unhelpful, condescending and degrading. There are numerous other not good reviews. Avoid in future.

There was nothing missing from this lot. From the history of the bidder we can see at least one other dispute on a surprisingly nominal item & it's over a year old w/out resolution. 1st clue we're potentially dealing w/a loose cannon. After reading an oddly worded message of accusation. We encouraged this bidder to call in, but other than another round of allegations & a statement that we will never be able to satisfy this bidder, we never heard anything else til this post. This is a bidder who's trying to get over on us and thinks that by shooting off disrespect and accusations, they could make a rucus to get a refund or discount or something, and now when that doesn't work they are throwing shade wherever they can. We have copies of the messaging, and nothing to hide. We're almost 50 yrs in the business & have conducted literally 100's of thousands of transactions. Pobody is nerfect, and we don't claim to be. But we don't take advantage of people and we dont want to be taken advantage of either. When something goes wrong we always make an effort to make it right, usually even when its not our fault. "Noisy" Accusations right from the start are an obvious sign that a buyer is trying to get over. Along with rushed timelines, instant escalation & finger pointing to distract from other possibilities w/refusal to even discuss are all signs that the buyer is not on the level. We have tight enough controls that merchandise just doesn't go missing. And the shipper has a stellar track record too. But when something goes wrong we make it right. Unless of course it is obvious we're dealing w/someone who's more interested in taking pot shots typing out slander and defamation than to give a call and actually figure something out. Over time patterns show the truth. And we're still trucking along after almost 50yrs. Please feel free to call us anytime. 845.758.9114

Great Company to Do Business With
George and his company were incredibly friendly and helpful to me upon my first time traveling from MA to NY to pick up my goods!! They loaded my trunk and other boxes for me without me even having to ask and with a great attitude..... will definitely be back!

First but not last
My first time with this auction house but it will not be my last if lots come up of interest. Accurately described the items were exactly what I wanted. Their outside shipping should be a model for many others to follow. Zero complaints on any level and I am not pleased easily.

Incorrect... According to our records we were in communication with you several times... The auction closed at almost midnight on a Saturday night. We prepared sent invoices with information instructions withing 45 minutes of the close of the auction via email. Your payment was paid (by you) processed the next day (Sunday). On Monday morning we called you proactively to congratulate you on winning, thank you for bidding with us asked you if you would require shipping. We recommended a shipper you chose to bargain shop for the best rate. We advised you of the most efficient shipper, you chose a different shipper that we actually warn people against as they are known for being terribly inefficient. That was your choice once we release the item to them per your request the ball is in their court, we have no way of knowing the status. I cant say who dropped the ball, between you them, but It is unfair to put the blame on us. We go above beyond here especially with respect to proactive attempts at communication if for no other reason than we have limited time space to turn over the items reclaim the space quickly to make way for the next auction. Sorry for your experience. for the record for anyone else reading... please THINK TWICE before using the UPS Store In Kingston or Rhinecliff.

Two shelf bar for the win
Great addition to the corner of the dining room. Wonderful for wine and glasses on top shelf and dessert plates and servers on lower shelf. Handy and lovely to look at!
