Nothing nicer than adding a great large set of beautiful lithographs to my collection. It can only happen if a great auctions house makes all them easily available!

The problem I personally had was that this portal site has Numerous add-on charges. Comissions and handling charges,? Just what did they handle? Best to bid directly with auction house. That is what I will be doing from here after.

Easy to do business with. Very friendly and helpful and reasonably priced for arranging delivery of larger items.

Truthfully, I was concerned that my purchased frame which was already damaged would get even more damaged in the mail, but they packed it so well with bubble wrap and a strong box that absolutely nothing else happened to the painting so thank you!

Good & friendly company but don’t expect to get a callback to any questions that you may pose. Although to be fair, that could have just been an oversight on their part. It was the first time I tried to text them a question.

Want to be clear-My overall experience was EXCELLENT and I was at the Bridgeport annex to pickup something else the following week. So happy I discovered this place. Items are beautiful and incredibly affordable. Staff is courteous and competent. For this particular item, I bid while I was at work and didn’t have time to run and check dimensions. Chest was much smaller than it looked in photos. Want to acknowledge I could have measured before I decided to bid, but it would be useful to have visual references (I. e. person in photo, etc.) to gauge overall size of item.

Like SO MANY others, my experience seemed ok... UNTIL I ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM. My issue was with their "in-house" shipper-who quoted the wrong size for the box HE packed !!).. then expected ME to assume the full cost for his mistake. When I called the auction house office to try to work out the problem, the receptionist refused to pass my call to the owners and insisted she'd handle it (or maybe she was the owner's wife???). She NEVER stopped talking long enough to even hear the issue, so I finally gave up and just hung up. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! There are SO many friendly and honest auction houses and shippers! Why deal with one that will FIGHT YOU... when even the slightest problem emerges? At least it's easy to see the consistent pattern in the feedback. As with EACH of their negative reports, Westport will likely respond, explaining why this was all MY fault, never theirs.

Internal crack in the glass not noted and added fees of $160 on a $375 item made this a disappointing experience.

Have regular hours, take payment via Liveacutioneers-I actually paid them twice and didn't notice-BUT THEY DID. Love an upstanding business!

I have to echo other constructive reviews which detail poor customer service by Westport Auctions. I drove over an hour to pick up a small purchase. After about 20 minutes, the very helpful warehouse associate was able to find the item, but it was damaged and not as described in the listing. He called the central office and the message relayed was I could take it as is, or leave it and receive a full refund. I liked the item, invested two hours of travel and therefore, offered to take it with a nominal credit towards the required repair. The message back was we don't do credits: take it or leave it. The office fully expected me to take the damaged item for full price. I left the item in the warehouse, mentioned I would leave a review on the item, but then decided to call the office from my car to better understand their position. I spoke with Jessica who treated me very shabbily, as if I had done something wrong. Because I mentioned I would leave a review, she told me I could take the item with a $20 credit on Live Auctioneers, but then I would be banned from bidding at their auction house ever again. I was shocked! I am a repeat customer and have bought multiple lots worth several $1000's from them in recent years. Luckily on those, there were no issues. I now see this lot was sold once in the past, probably never picked up, or refused because of the damage, and now is being sold again with no mention of the damage. I believe honest reviews in the auction marketplace are necessary for transparency. I won't cower to Jessica's threats if I write an honest review of my experience. My initial review was going to be "The item was damaged". My current review is "Don't expect a fair resolution or to be treated with respect if anything goes wrong." Live Auctioneers should take note that Westport Auctions threatens a lifetime ban for negative reviews. Oh well, so be it. Less bidders results in lower prices, lower seller proceeds, and reduced commissions.

They are quick to respond and didn't over charge for delivery like many East Coast auction houses

Very excited about this piece being added to our Old Master Collection. Wonderful auction house, was very helpful with pre-photo and lot requests. Had this restored as this is a copy of Theodor Van Thulden Flanders 1657 of "Allegory of Time Revealing Truth" Had the paint tested and dated..... Originally painted in 1657, now hung in The Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia. This is what they call a sleeper as the carbon dating has it painted around 1 **********.
