I made my first purchase from Ivy recently. Items were exactly as described. I opted for their in house shipping, and not only were my fragile items packed very well and shipped in a reasonable amount of time, but the shipping costs were very reasonable. I’m used to auction houses (especially those on LiveAuctioneers) tacking on exorbitant, ridiculous inflated shipping prices ($100 to ship a small $140 win that actually costs less than $20 ship, including packing materials and the 10 minutes to pack and label it) but Ivy was very reasonable. I’d absolutely recommend Ivy to anyone, and will be following their auctions in the future.

Excellent experience bidding on and receiving my winning items from Ivy Auctions

I had never dealt with Ivy before, but right away I could see they do their homework when they asked me for references from other auction houses. Bidding and payment was easy, but it got better. Unlike most auction houses, Ivy does their own packing and shipping, so I didn't have to call around to find packers, and I could pay along with the purchase price. The staff were friendly and helpful, the packing was carefully done and wait time was short. In addition, they were environmentally conscious: instead of using heavy tape on the bubble wrap, they used strips of plastic wrap, which held just as firmly, but was much easier to remove, and rolled into a tiny ball. They even found water-soluble "foam peanuts" so instead of huge trashbags of the things to dispose of, I dissolved them all. To quote Siskel and Ebert "Two Thumbs Up!"

Expensive shipping, especially for used packing materials and no return receipt. Photos didn't show faded color.

Repeat customer, very interesting stuff and good service on the administrative side. They really are mostly estate sales, so what you see differs from auction to auction. I live circa 75 minutes away and so pick up anything that I buy, however, so I have no experience with their shipping capabilities. But otherwise, would recommend them highly.

We drove 2 1/2 hours each way, to pick up our item. Add 1/2 hour visiting with the owners and another 1/2 hour picking up lunch at the local cafe and we had an excellent day and got a prized piece.

The couple that run Ivy Auctions are wonderful folks! I felt like they were family after talking with them! They went above and beyond to pack and quick ship a painting to my 103 yo mom so that it would get to her by Christmas! They made her a priority.

They took just enough photos, had a fair opening bid, and described it very well. Once it was determined that I had won, I waited for them to send me the invoice (I didn't have to wait too long), then I paid for it. They packaged it very well, and shipped it out quickly. It arrived in perfect shape!

Ivy Auctions is one of my favorite auction houses. They are exceptional in their descriptions, auctioneering, and packaging. Love their auctions.

My experience with Ivy Auctions was very professional and enjoyable. The photograph of the object was clean and clear and represented it very accurately. The communication for payment after the auction was very enjoyable and the shipping was reasonable. The heavy antique cutter arrived sooner than I expected. It was very well packed and I am extremely pleased with it! I would buy again at Ivy Auctions and highly recommend them!

Not all auction houses offer personal assistance like Ivy. They are helpful and reasonable.
