This set contains four egg cups as well as a salt shaker and was made after a décor from the German art professor, architect and artist of the Art Nouveau Richard Riemerschmid (1868 - 1957). Each piece stands on three curved feet and the greyish wall is adorned with a pattern of dots in blue underglaze painting.



The set is in good condition with signs of age and wear. Small chips at the mouth rim and a crack as well as restorations can be seen. The height measures 4 to 5.5 cm.



Richard Riemerschmid (1868-1957)

Richard Riemerschmid has most certainly to be named amongst the most important artist and art theorists of the art nouveaux period. He created as well designs for works of art in metal, glass and ceramic, as he did for buildings - all under new concept of the ‘Richtung der Bewegung’-direction of movement. Riemerschmidt is especially famous for his role in the development of the Munich art nouveaux style and as co-founder of the ‘Deutscher Werkbund’ in 1907. (lvp)
