Description
A set of three WWII era Japanese army military sake cups, the interior painted with a helmet and sword, cherry flowers and a flag. The words are: China Incident Commemoration. Pottery cups are glazed in pale blue, adorned with gilded trim. Completed with an original box. Marco Polo Bridge Incident, July 7, 1937, conflict between Chinese and Japanese troops near the Marco Polo Bridge outside Beiping (now Beijing), which developed into the warfare between the two countries that was the prelude to the Pacific side of World War II.
