CANADA 1906 Lady Grey Garden Competition Prize Medal Extra Fine


14.57 Grams Sterling Silver with 14 Kt. Gold inlay. This First Class Prize Medal was won by Mrs. Peter Whelen of Arnprior, Ontario. This unique medal was issued by Rosenthal as hallmarked on the edge and the word "sterling". The Obverse of the medal are 2 concentric circles of beads, the inner ring is raised beads and the outer ring is incused. The interlocked "Crowned G's" and open wreath were XRF'ed tested and registered 14 Kt. GOLD. This is a very RARE medal and first that this writer has seen in 49 years. The suspension ring shows limited wear and the reserve shows light scratches leading the writer to believe that someone was testing it. Overall the piece has not been cleaned. Should be viewed and further study done.
