Brooks efforts were recognized by an Emmy Award and numerous other honors; he was also nominated three times for the Academy Award and once for a Tony.

She was commissioned by Marshall Field to create an exhibition of over 100 sculptures that were exhibited at the Marshall Field Museum in Chicago. The New York Times called it “probably the largest commission ever granted any sculptor,” male or female.
