Description
An antique Japanese Satsuma pottery trinket box. Late Meiji era, before 1912. Footed round tripod piece. Black exterior ground color with ornamental gilding and polychrome flowers. Shimazu family crest on the bottom. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated. Shimazu clan was the main producer of Satsuma ware. Collectible Oriental Asian Decor, Vanity Items And Jewelry Boxes.
