A FINE AND RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY SILVER AND ENAMEL SINGING BIRD BOX FROM PALAIS ROYAL
Probably by F. Cattelin, circa 1925
the box decorated throughout with pale blue translucent guilloche enamel with floral garlands to every side and back, the top also with ribbon tied floral garlands framing the oval lid decorated with a courting couple in 18th century dress, when the gem set handle is pulled the lid rises to reveal with gilt pierced grill from which the bird with plumage appears, singing and flapping its wings, the underside of the box marked '935' and 'Le Palais Royal', with going barrel movement, with winding key,

In working order and good condition.
Retailed from the famous Palais Royal, France.
F. Cattelin was one of several Swiss makers during the early 20th century, he did not sign his work but the movement design and serial number make-up indicate he could have been the maker. He was renowned for fine casework, usually in silver and enamel.
