Description
Japanese Satsuma vase with hawk, Meiji period. Decorated in polychrome enamels, silver and gilt, the vase divided into two registers, the lower painted with a Muromachi-style simulated ink pine tree, and a scene of Hawk flying in which standing on the tree branch, each scene separated by scrolling tree trunk , the upper register with a continuous reticulated design of insect-eaten leaves and flowers painted with geometric designs, and scenes of blossoming flowers, all banded by plumage painted in stippled gilt, the rim decoration with spout from dragon mouth, signed on the underside DaoShan in red enamel, impressed seal signed.
