Description
A Damascus sword M 1889 for infantry officers, circa 1905Single-edged blade of forged Damascus steel with double fullers on both sides. The manufacturer's stamp "W K & C" below a king's head and knight's helmet at the base, gilt ornaments etched on both sides at the root of the blade with trophy and inscription "EISENHAUER DAMASTSTAHL". Knuckle-bow hilt in gilt, non-ferrous metal (abraded), richly decorated in relief, an eagle with the sovereign's cipher "WR II" on the obverse of the folding guard plate. Dark brown synthetic grip (light brown in places) with triple silver wire winding. The sword knot attached with a leather band interwoven in silver. Black lacquered steel scabbard (abraded, a few traces of rust) with a movable suspension ring. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Length 101 cm. Deluxe Damascus sword in good condition.Condition: II
