Seltene erste Ausgabe dieser schönen Folge von umrissradierten Phantasie-Landschaften, -Architekturen und -Interieurs. Am Schluss, nicht zu diesem Werk gehörig ein sorgfältig gestochenes Porträt Basolis von Lipparini. Basoli, "Maler von Dekorationen und Architektur-Prospekten, zu Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts, gebürtig von Bologna. In der Akademie daselbst, dann in Rom durch eigene Studien weitergebildet, hatte er seinerzeit mit dekorativen Arbeiten in Palästen und für Theater großen Erfolg" (Thieme-Becker II, 599).
"Basoli's Prospettive serie include plates that seem worthy predecessors of the most blustery early Hollywood movies (such as those by D. W. Griffith). The extensive representation of wood and carpentry in many of the plates is also remarkably unlike contemporary Italian topographic views, still largely under the sway of classicizing Roman views, and show thorough knowledge of the scaffolding techniques necessary for stage construction. Equally recurrent is the Egyptian motif, which in the form of obelisks, sphinxes, pyramids, and sculptures invades the composition of exotic sites" (Millard). - Das Titelblatt etwas fleckig, in den Rändern stellenweise angestaubt.
