Unusual Whimsical Painted Spelter Inkwell, c. 1900, by Jennings Brothers, in the form of a cat wearing a napkin, the glass eyed head lifting to reveal the inkwell, now lacking the porcelain insert, the napkin forming the pen tray, the underside marked "JB 883," H.- 4 1/2 in., W.- 5 3/8 in., D.- 5 3/4 in.

Area on back of neck where hinge connects to head has been repaired. Some wear to paint on bib and cat’s tongue. Insert now lacking. A whimsical piece.
