Maxwell, William H.- Hill-Side and Border Sketches, with Legends of The Cheriots and The Lammermuir- London and Manchester: Richard Bentley, 1847, 2 vols, 342, 338 pp. Engraved frontispieces in each volume and 15 wood engravings in the text, gilt lettering on spine, corners and edges worn, tear to spine. W. H. Maxwell was an Irish sporting and military novelist. These volumes are a description of his travels through the Scottish borderlands.
