Founding Documents of the IAF In 1949, the GFG from Germany proposed to other astronautical societies that they should hold a conference to develop cooperation. The British Interplanetary Society (BIS) agreed to organize this conference in London in 1951. In the mean time, the French GAF organized a preparatory meeting with several astronautical groups in Paris in October 1950. . Astronautical and rocket societies from 10 countries were represented and became signatories to the agreement founding the IAF. The London conference, held in September 1951, was designated as the Second International Astonautical Congress. This lot includes an original foundation agreement for the International Astornautical Federation, in French, dated October 2, 1950 and signed on the reverse by all nine participants of the delegation. Signers are: Aranoff (France), Loeser and JunKlaas (Germany), Tabanera (Argentina), Cap (Austria), Hansen (Denmark, Nur (spain), Cleaver (Great Britain) and Hjeetstrand (Sweden). The IAF encourages the advancement of knowledge about space and the development and application of space assets for the benefit of humanity. ALSO included is a two page program for the first IAF congress, an original 1-page flyer advertising the conference, 244-page typed notes from the first day of the congress, September 30, 1950, and a 20-page typed notes from the meetings of October 1 and 2, 1950. All documents are in good condition. Exceedingly rare.
