Moreno Pincas was born in Bulgaria in 1936 and immigrated to Israel in 1949.
He participated in exhibitions in Paris, Buenos Aires, Milan and Tel Aviv. Moreno's creative work has a considerable literary element derived from various sources. His heroes, covered with loneliness and spiritual emptiness, find themselves in enigmatic social situations. Their features are often handled in great detail whether they are aged, expressive or unattractive.
In the Restaurant presents a grotesque old couple holding a pet-monkey with a leash while they wait to be sited in a restaurant. At their side is a waiter turning his back at them. The couples' faces are wrinkled and harsh and their expression is of disdain and contempt. The restaurant is highly decorated with lovely painted flowers and birds, in contrast to the old and grotesque couple. Moreno's love for detail is shown in the Art Deco architectural elements as well as in the decorative lamps and in the detailed grotesque depiction of the human figures.
