Description
Fully-mounted, silver overlaid, Bill Adamson spurs with domed oval, cut-out 5-point Texas star on the heelband, arrow shanks, engraved solid nickel 2 1/4", 12 pt rowel. Off-side repeats the Crocket style arrow shank, but incorporated a 2 1/4" overlay with cut-out 6666 designs. Bill has matching two-tiered, brass-on-silver star, 2" conchos affixed to stamped, two-piece leathers connected by Adamson, marked and engraved buckles with tips. Unused condition, c 1997 PROVENANCE: In 1998, High Noon, in conjunction with Bobby Newton and Rope Burns Newspaper decided to highlight five of the premier contemporary craftsman. Bill Adamson, Jerry Cates, Mark Dahl (TCA), Bill Heisman (TCA) and Kevin Burns participated in the Four Sixes Project – each signing a non-replication clause agreeing to never copy the spurs submitted for the High Noon auction. The 6666 Ranch in North Central Texas was chosen to honor – not just because it was the largest individually owned ranch in Texas with 350,000 acres and operations in cattle, quarter horses and oil and gas production – but because it was rich in Texas history, tradition and folklore dating back to the 1870s when Samuel B. Burnett drove his own herd up the Chisholm Trail purchasing a small herd of native cattle and the rights to the 6666 brand.
