Large folding map on blue paper, one illustration in the text (p. 190). Original orange cloth stamped in blind, spine lettered in gilt, housed in folding cloth case with leather spine label. Condition: small stain to upper outer margin of first few leaves, map with short tear repaired at verso, light foxing; hinges repaired, spine darkened, wear to extremities, boards soiled. Provenance: Bryher (bookplate). FIRST EDITION OF THIS RARE WORK. The third book by the prolific British author, translator, soldier and adventurer: Burton's detailed description of the manners, customs, and religion culled from his five year sojourn in the Sindh region of what is now Pakistan.
