Description
634. Alice in Wonderland 200+ original animation motion sequences by animator Art Babbit. (Lou Bunin Studios, 1949, release delayed to 1951) Legend has it that Walt Disney nearly caused this curious and charming composite of live action and animation (just like his own early "Alice" silent cartoons) from being released at all, for fear of competition to his version coming shortly after. Those few who have seen the film generally appreciate its unique and often remarkable qualities, not the least of which is reported to be the most charming Alice of any of the very many different versions throughout the years. This lot contains 200+ hand-drawn pencil animation motion sequences by animator Art Babbit for many different characters, including: Dodo walking and running (40), Mouse (8), Eaglet (24), Pigeon (16), Duck (15), King walking (31), Guenea Pig running (8), Toucan walking and running (40), Monkey running (16), Parrot walking and running (32) and Owl (15). Accomplished on standard 11 x 14" registration-punched animation paper, with each character separated into its original scene production logs with the exception of the owl, which lacks its log folder. Very fine.
