Gent's, size 6, 14k gold, keyless, pendant wound and pendant set, savonette, hunting case pocket watch, dial/movement signed the Marvel Watch Company of New York City (made by the Trenton Watch Company), Trenton, New Jersey, a 1898-1900.c, Case: Size 6, 32 mm diameter, four leaf, 14k yellow gold hunting case pocket watch with the fluted ball pendant and round bow placed at the three position opposite the case hinge (savonette style). The outer cover is engraved with stars, fruit and foliate patterns, one side with a cameo for the owner's initials. The interior indicates that the case was made by the Crescent Watch Case Company of Brooklyn, New York. The edges of the case also have floral engraving around the periphery. Dial: White enameled dial with Roman hours, closed minute ring, subsidiary seconds bit @6, blued steel Spade hands and the upper dial marked for the "Marvel Watch Company, New York, USAâ€. Movement: A nickel damascened three quarter plate movement, 7/8 jewel movement some in gold pivots, adjusted, safety pinion, plain index regulator and bimetallic balance wheel. The movement is marked, Marvel Watch Company. there is a six-digit serial number beginning with 738 and that help date this movement to circa 1900. Condition: Case is in very good condition as is the dial. Movement is in good condition. I assume the watch is functional. It is rare to find this brand in a gold case.
