RARE INDIGO BLUE GROUND “KWA-CHEE” BOX WITH COVER罕有靛蓝底有盖瓷盒Late 19th CenturyDimension: 18.2cm (Width)RM 2,800 - 10,000Rare indigo blue circular melon seed or kwa-chee blue dish consists of formalized floral scrolls with bats. The box moulded with five interior compartments, each enamelled with flowering sprigs. Stamped with four and rare six-character marks of Tong Zhi in red seal script. Good condition A near identical box was auctioned by Christies’ International (Singapore) “Straits Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art” on 30 September 1995. It was illustrated by Prof. Ho Wing Meng’s “Straits Chinese Porcelain – A Collector’s Guide” book at page 58 & 90.
