Description
Gilt-finished footed birdcage with green velvet floor lining holding three hand-feathered birds perched on poles that move and sing, controlled by a winder on the bottom of the cage and lever on the rear side of the base, painted wood, metal, artificial leaves and feathers, early twentieth century; marked 37 on bottom. This concept was first invented by Jacques-Droz in 1780.
Dimensions: Approximately 15"H x 10-1/4"W x 8"D
Condition
Tested and in good working order; toning to metal, dust on velvet-lined floor, some cracking and loss to moulding on lower edge of base.
