A custom-created red wool blend costume jacket with hook and eye front closure, lined in red lame. The jacket is completely covered in red bugle beads with elaborate gold seed beaded rope design with matching cuffs and epaulets. The jacket was most notably worn by Jackson to the 1984 American Music awards where he was presented with eight awards. Jackson was frequently photographed in this jacket at public appearances and photo shoots during the 1980s, and is among the most iconic of Jackson's wardrobe pieces. A poster-sized, framed blow-up of Jackson wearing this jacket is included with this lot. On public display at the Los Angeles GRAMMY Museum until April 12, 2009.
