Description
The German silver-mounted hilt highly embellished with vegetal motifs and an American Eagle flanked by mother of pearl panels, the broad blade with clipped tip and etched panel to left side with an eagle and the motto, WE ASK FOR NOTHING BUT WHAT IS RIGHT/ AND SUBMIT TO NOTHING THAT IS WRONG and DRAW ME NOT IN HASTE beneath an American Eagle in profile. Struck at the left forte, HENRY & CO. WARRANTED and at the right forte, WARRANTED CUTLERY. In its original gilt-stamped red leather sheath with German silver mounts. C. 1860. Slight wear to leather, minor bend to tip of blade. 35.2 cm overall, blade 20.7 cm. Condition I
