A colorful, detailed, and iconographic saucer with dragon and phoenix that is delicately hand painted.
Small glazed porcelain saucer with a depiction of a dragon and a phoenix in the clouds with the pearl of wisdom in the center between them. There is a key fret band painting around the mouth rim. The designs were painted with yellow, green, red, pink and blue over glaze enamels. The white glaze, that is visible around the rim and on the back, is smooth, thick and looks shiny. Held against a light, you can see the transparency. The saucer has a small unglazed raised foot ring. The base is glazed and has four characters in red that read “Made during the Qianlong Reign.
MEASUREMENTS 3 7/8†(9.8 cm) diameter x 1†(2.5 cm) deep. Weighs 2.2 oz (60 g)
CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There are kiln flaws such as dimples, glaze pinholes, and explosions in the glaze on the phoenix.
A small colorful, delicate, well painted dragon and phoenix saucer. It will look good in a collection.
