1903, Glasgow, with maker's mark of George Edward & Sons, further incised ''Edward & Sons / Glasgow'', monumental, with circular bowl decorated with strapwork above an addorsed mermaid and dolphin stem and issuing three downswept supports entwined with winged mermaid terms, over a circular spreading base enameled with heraldic pennants depicting a brown crowned rampant lion on a yellow shield and blue field, further decorated with mottled cabochons, 19'' H x 18.25'' Dia., 310 oz, est:$30,000/40,000
Condition
Monumental, as stated. Decoration very finely executed. Very good condition overall. General light marks, scratches and tarnishing to surface commensurate with age and use. Some more notable scratches around rim of bowl. Enamel in very good condition - remains quite vibrant. No evident repairs visible with blacklight. Polish residue to crevices. Would benefit from a proper light cleaning. This and all lots are sold AS IS.
