18.5x22.75" frame contains matted 11-7/8x16-1/8" artboard w/pen and ink original art by José Luis García-López, whose long-running relationship w/DC Comics helped shape the style of the publishing company's comic books during the 1980s. During his exclusive contract w/DC, he was responsible for penciling the style guides used by the company to provide official artwork for merchandise licenses around the world (see item #1390). Art is for page 44 of the Sept. 1981 DC Special Series Vol. 1, #27, published by DC Comics in conjunction w/Marvel Comics. Page features six panels, Batman appearing in every panel, where he is joined by The Joker for all but first panel, in which Batman stands before the batsignal alone. Art shows Batman reluctantly teaming up w/The Joker, the dysfunctional duo scouring the streets and alleys of Gotham City, looking for The Incredible Hulk. Bottom third of artboard features stunning profile images of both Batman and The Joker. Page has been inked by Dick Giordano. Top margin has inked production notations including "Batman/Hulk" title and page number. Top left corner has been clipped, not affecting art in any way. As framed, artboard has been mounted to foamcore w/white fabric tape along top margin and could be easily removed if so desired. Artboard has lt. even again and aside from a few spots of white correctional fluid, remains clean. Exc. display as professionally mated and framed under UV glass.
