MARILYN MONROE – 1955 Oil painting by Romeo Catozella. "Oil on canvas portrait of Marilyn Monroe set against a vibrant red background that perfectly matches her lipstick… Signed in the lower right hand corner by New York American artist Romeo Catozella. This piece was Monroe's personal property from her estate and relates to the cover photograph of June 1955 "Modern Screen" The work was painted at the height of Marilyn's success, during the same year that 'The Seven Year Itch' was filmed and remained in her possession for some seven years until she died in August 1962. A good copy of the magazine accompanies the painting and includes a three page article about the actress written by Earl Wilson. Light gold wood frame with satin finish. Measurements Framed 24" x 30" Unframed - 22" x 28" On the back of the canvas frame marked in black capitals is; "Romeo Catozella 8728-17 Ave. Bklyn. 14 NY.
