Description
This vaseline glass samovar was made by Cambridge Glass Co. in the 1924-1927 time period. The frame was made by CENTURY SILVERPLATE. The glass was usually made by the factory, then sold to the metalwork company, who marketed the finished product. This etched pattern on the outer surface of the glass is a known design by Cambridge. All of it is here, with no missing metal. There is very slight roughness under the lid that does not show when the lid is in place (please see photos). This is 'AS MADE' as the glass was blown into a mold, the top was then cut off, and then was rough ground. This is just how it came from the factory and is all original as it should be. The silverplate frame shows a little tarnish. The frame is marked on the bottom with patent date of Sept. 28, (19)26, As well as CENTURY SILVERPLATE. Peterson, copyright 2002 by Antique publications, color photo #678 on pg. 75. -- part of a collection of art glass to be sold live on eBayLiveAuctions on Oct 5th at 1pm, Andy & Rob Collection.
