Description
This is a green carnival crackle glass with iridescent finish, made by Webb & Co. in 1900. The consignor provided the following provenance, and we could not have stated it better: CYRIL MANLEY PICTURES THIS COLOR/TEXTURE IN A SIMILAR SHAPED VASE IN HIS BOOK AND CALLS IT "BRAIN GLASS" BY RICHARDSON.- -ADDITIONALLY, MORE CONTEMPORARY EXPERTS (HAJDAMACH, THISTLEWOOD, ETC.) CALL IT WEBB'S BRONZE GLASS. THIS SPECTACULAR PIECE IS MONUMENTAL AND HAS BEEN ON DISPLAY AT BOTH THE BROADFIELD HOUSE GLASS MUSEUM IN ENGLAND AND THE OGLEBAY MUSEUM IN WHEELING, WV.
