Item Details
Description
112 bhp, 236.6 cu. in., L-head in-line 6-cylinder, three-speed semi-automatic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, semi-elliptic rear leaf springs with live rear axle, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase 125.5"

It was the end of the era when the last 600 wood-bodied station wagons were produced for DeSoto in the 1950 model year. Even in its last year, they continued to reign as the most expensive model in the marque's line-up, over $1,000 more than a comparable model from Ford or Chevrolet.

This DeSoto Custom Station Wagon was treated to a full cosmetic restoration several years ago. It was repainted in its original Andante Green metallic, which complements the golden oak and mahogany wood grains. Close inspection reveals the talents and craftsmanship that went into the creation of this rolling work of art. From the clear amber plastic replica of the famed explorer for whom the car is named, to the fit and finish of the doors and rear gate, you will marvel at the skill of those who assembled this vehicle.

One of the favorites in the Art Astor Collection, the DeSoto is equipped with leather seats in a natural saddle finish and fitted with an original radio. Even the tiniest of details, such as the control knobs, instrumentation faces and all of the glass is clean and clear, providing an excellent view for the passengers looking out, or for those standing on the street to see the smiles on the lucky occupants of this grand station wagon. Other special features include accessory spotlights, bumper guards, rocker panel moldings and full wheel covers.

As with all of cars in the Astor collection, this DeSoto station wagon is in excellent condition throughout. Showing under 59,000 miles on the odometer, under the hood looks just as it did when first delivered, as authenticity was the main focus of its restoration.

This is truly a rare opportunity to own one of the last pieces of a bygone era, from a time in which pride, quality and craftsmanship were employed in the creation of a regular production automobile.
