Item Details
Description
VESPA GS150; The most recognisable Italian motor scooter; fully renovated; extra chrome accessories. Engine: 150cc, 1-cylinder; Other: manual 4-gear gearbox Legal condition: unregistered; ; VEHICLE HISTORY: The current owner acquired the Vespa in 2007 as a part of a larger collection. Basing on his experience with other two-wheelers, the owner did a complete renovation of the scooter involving body works, paint job and mechanical repairs (including the general overhaul of the engine). Thanks to the high-quality renovation, the motor scooter looks very good. The black paint is in a very good condition and all the extra accessories highlight the Grand Sport's character. The owner has all the billing documents as evidence of the renovation process. Currently, the scooter is in need of a pre-launch inspection after several years of disuse. The speedometer cable also needs to be replaced. The evergreen Vespa is a perfect addition to a collection of vintage vehicles and a remarkable city vehicle. The motor scooter has no registration documents so it needs to be registered as a historical vehicle. The motor scooter was featured in the Automobilista 11/2012 magazine.; MODEL HISTORY: Vespa motor scooters conjure the images of narrow Italian streets and the "Roman Holiday" feature film starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. It was in the 1950s when the brand was developing. The first Vespa was produced in 1946 basing on the design by the Italian engineer Corradino D'Asciano. The motor scooter was intended to be a cheaper alternative to a car, therefore readily available to the general public. The easy to ride and immensely practical motor scooters won the Italians' hearts. The first models were powered by a 98cc engine coupled with a manual lever-operated gearbox and featured a spare wheel. This cheap and easy to ride means of transportation won a place in the history of post-war Italy. The GS150, or the Grand Sport 150, became arguably the most characteristic and readily recognisable Vespa model. The model was launched in 1955. The motor scooter was powered by a 1-cylinder 150cc engine. Thanks to international sales, the scooters were highly appreciated not only in Italy but all over the world. The GS models have been highly regarded on the collector market for many years now. It is more and more difficult to find a well-preserved example and the prices for the motor scooter have been on the increase.
