circus elephant, mohair plush, grey/blue flamed, jointed, with neck mechanism and snap joints, velvet paws with toes, with felt down below of the snout and also at the point of the trunk, blue glass eyes, 32 cm, there is no snap mechanism in the snout, the elephant was X-rayed at Steiff, many parts of the mechanism are identical to the subsequent serial model, this is a test version, it is known that a similar elephant was in possesion of the family Steiff (Klara Steiff, great second cousin Magarete Steiff) and a few years before it returned to the Steiff-archive, after that was a replika produced with red flamed mohair, in Giengen it was common practice that this test models were presented to relatives of employees or on the occassion  of special events, version without tusks, small places with pelt loss, this version isn't listed in the Pfeiffer catalog

Zirkus-Elefant, Mohairplüsch, grau/blau geflammt, gegliedert, mit Halsmechanik u. Schnappgliedern, Samtpfoten mit ausgearbeiteten Zehen, Filz an der Schnauze unten sowie Spitze am Rüssel, blaue Glasaugen, 32 cm, kein Schnapp-Mechanismus im Maul, Der Elefant wurde bei Steiff geröngt. Die Mechanik ist in vielen Teilen identisch mit dem späteren Serienmodel. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine Versuchsvariante. Ein ähnlicher Elefant ist aus der Familie Steiff (Klara Steiff, Urgroßcousine Magarete Steiff) bekannt und wurde vor einigen Jahren an das Steiff-Archiv zurück gegeben. Danach erschien ein Replika mit rot geflammtem Mohair. Es war üblich das solche Versuchsmodelle in Giengen an Angehörige von Mitarbeitern oder zu besonderen Anlässen verschenkt wurden. Ausführung ohne Stoßzähne, kl. Stellen Fellverlust, diese Ausführung ist im Pfeiffer-Katalog nicht ausgeführt
