Description
A soldier's patchwork coverlet made by Richard Trixon Beale (1850-1892), circa 1860-70, made from wools - the majority taken from uniforms and over-stitched with stars in contrasting wools, 143 by 133cm, 56 by 52in; together with a photograph of the gentleman in full military dress, (2) Richard Beale was born at Ticehurst in Kent. He enlisted in the 76th Regiment of Foot in June 1868. He embarked for the East Indies on the 15th September 1868 and returned to England on 11th April 1876. He was invalided out of the army in May 1877.
Condition
It is in un-used condition, slightly dusty from storage, sligt soiling to the lining along fold lines and one small spotted stain (minor).
