JOE DIMAGGIO
(1914-1999) Baseball Hall of Famer, a legendary member of the N.Y. Yankees, dubbed "Joltin' Joe" and "The Yankee Clipper", he hit safely in 56 consecutive games, married Marilyn Monroe and had the highway running the length of West Manhattan renamed in his honor. Excellent, large-scale signed print, 30" x 23 1/2", reproducing a painting by Carlo Beninati entitled "The Hitter, the Hero, & the American Dream", incorporating five views of DiMaggio in action. DiMaggio signs boldly in black ink beneath an image of him batting. The print is also signed by the artist at bottom left and hand-numbered "915/1000". Accompanying the print is a notarized Certificate of Authenticity from Signature One Series, dated Feb 1, 1994, reiterating the limitation number and incorporating a photograph of DiMaggio signing the print as artists Beninati and the notary look on. Exquisitely matted and framed, fine.
